As children, we’re taught to distinguish fruits from vegetables—but not everyone knows (or remembers) that from a botanical point of view, bell peppers are technically a fruit since they grow from a flower and contain seeds. That classification doesn’t matter much, though: what truly wins us over is their sweet, slightly tangy flavor, which pairs beautifully with the bright acidity of balsamic vinegar in this bold and deeply flavorful compote.
Rich in nuance and fresh notes, our Pepper and Balsamic Vinegar Compote is a wonderful match for cheese—especially smoked scamorza, soft and semi-aged pecorino cheeses—or meat-based main courses. But we also recommend enjoying it simply on a slice of good bread. -
